Pax Autocratica multiplayer: co-op, crossplay, PvP status

Pax Autocratica multiplayer: single-player only today; co-op planned in Early Access. Both official statements, the player count, crossplay, and PvP status.

Pax Autocratica is single-player only today, and co-op is officially planned during Early Access. Both halves come from the developers' own statements: a stated plan, not a guess. This page is the detailed multiplayer reference: both official co-op answers, every mode question that has a verified answer, and the ones that do not.

Does Pax Autocratica have multiplayer?

Not today. The Steam page lists the game as single-player, and that is the entire current experience: one player runs the colony and fights the expeditions. There is no local co-op, no split-screen, no PvP, and no shared-base mode in the current build. Every guide on this wiki describes that solo game.

The co-op plan, in full

Two official statements exist, from two different channels, and they differ in specificity:

  • The Steam Early Access questionnaire names co-op as a major feature the developers intend to develop during Early Access, with no player count and no date.
  • Developer replies in the official Steam discussions go one step further: 4-player online co-op, arriving by full release. Recorded in this wiki's August 17, 2026 material harvest.

Read together: four players is the only player count on record, and full release (after the expected roughly two-year Early Access window that began August 10, 2026) is the outer boundary. Neither statement carries a dated commitment, and the 4-player figure comes from discussion replies rather than the store page itself, so treat it as the developers' current word rather than a locked specification.

What is not announced

  • a co-op release date;
  • whether co-op is online-only or includes local play;
  • PvP or any competitive mode: none exists in the current build, and none has been announced;
  • crossplay or cross-save between platforms: the game is Windows-only today, and platform plans live in the consoles guide;
  • how co-op will interact with the colony-to-combat loop: whether players share one colony, run separate expeditions, or something in between.

Until those details appear on the Steam page or in the developers' official channels, treat any specific co-op claim beyond the two statements above as speculation.

Can I play with friends today?

No. There is nothing to opt into: no co-op beta, no test branch, no announced release window. What you can do today is compare colonies and expedition results with other players: the Reddit community and the official Discord are where those conversations happen.

What solo play includes now

Single-player does not mean thin. The confirmed Early Access build contains the full loop: building and governing a colony (facilities, production, policies, citizen values of Fear, Happiness, Hunger, and Loyalty) plus first-person roguelite expeditions with your soldiers, prisoner capture and conversion, and the core system (weapon, combo, and soldier cores) that reshapes each run.

The gameplay guide maps those systems; the beginner guide walks the first colony; the roadmap guide tracks where co-op sits among the developers' other Early Access plans. For the one-line launch-wide status summary (release date, review snapshot, price), see the release-date status page.

Sources and verification

  • Primary source: the official Steam store page. Single-player listing, Early Access developer answers (co-op as a major planned feature, ~2-year window), and feature list.
  • Developer replies in the official Steam discussions: 4-player online co-op by full release. Recorded in this wiki's August 17, 2026 material harvest.
  • Verified Aug 26, 2026. The two co-op statements are quoted with their channels because they differ in specificity; any change will appear on the Steam page or in the developers' official channels first.
